InTUNE Training is a revolutionary approach to a physical activity. It’s different than most exercise programs so here some important details about it.
PROBLEM
It’s hard to fit exercise into your day, even when you fully appreciate its value. Life just gets in the way.
SOLUTION
InTUNE stands for Integrative and opportunistic training. The daily workout program provides a useful way to integrate movement into and throughout your day, and do so when the opportunities strike!
It can also simplify your daily routine by giving you a body weight-oriented workout you can do anywhere, whenever you have a minute (literally).
HOW IT WORKS
Each day humanOS.me schedules a new InTUNE workout. Each workout is comprised of one-to-several exercises with a repetition (rep) or time goal for each exercise, like so:
By reps
- Sit-ups: 50 reps
- Pike press: 30 reps
- Lunges: 80 reps
By time
- Wall sits: 120 secs
- Plank: 180 secs
YOU HAVE UNTIL DAY'S END TO COMPLETE...Your window to complete the day's InTUNE workout is from when you wake up in the morning to when you go to bed at night. That's right, you have the whole day to get the reps done and you don't have to do them all at once. You can do the exercises altogether (clustered activity) or you can break up the work into exercise ‘snacks’.Let's take one exercise from above as an example: Sit-ups: 50 repsHere you can see that the goal is to complete 50 sit-ups by day's end. Again, you can do them all at once or you can mix them into your day, a few at a time, for example:
- 8:00a: 20 reps
- Noon: 10 reps
- 5:00p: 20 reps
Any combination works, just aim to complete the 50 sit-ups before the day is over (same goes for all the exercises in the workout of the day)!
OPPORTUNISTIC MINDSET
One of the more significant aspects of InTUNE Training is the mindset it promotes. Over a few weeks of doing this training method, you start to see your day differently as it becomes filled with little opportunities to be active.For instance, you can do a few reps during your morning routine, or after you finish an email, or right before lunch - it's an entirely different way to think about exercise (yet moving throughout the day is how our ancestors moved).
BUT I CAN'T DO EVEN A FEW PUSH UPS!
You can modify any exercise to make it easier (or harder). For example, if you can't do a push-up, modify the exercise to do the push-up reps from your knees or a counter.Click the [+] at the upper right of the InTUNE tile on the dashboard to find animated GIF images of the exercise and sometimes modifications of easier versions of that exercise (see below).Key: Find some version of the scheduled exercise you can do with good form and do that.
WHAT IF I DON'T RECOGNIZE ONE OF THE EXERCISES?
Flip over the tile on your dashboard and see an example of how to do it! For instance, here is how you do ice skater jumps:
